Workshops & Continuing Education Courses in Trades:



Chainsaw Maintenance and Safety Course:

This two-day course is designed for individuals who are working within their own wood lots and/or employees required to perform brushing, limbing and limited felling of trees.The program consists of a one-day classroom session and one-day practical session.A wallet card will be issued upon successful completion.

Confined Space / Fall Protection:

Countless numbers of workers are injured or killed each year in confined spaces and many of these accidents result in fatalities. If you must work in confined spaces, you need special protection and training. Regulatory minimum standard requirements exist for management and the competent persons who facilitate the Confined Space entry. Only trained and competent people will carry out the technical duties associated with Confined Space entry work. Confined Space accidents can be avoided. to provide trainees with practical knowledge in the day-to-day use and care of fall arrest equipment. Accident statistics in the workplace indicate that falls are the second leading cause of accidents.Training for fall arrest in the construction industry is mandatory and this course complies with the new and amended regulations that are now in place in most provinces.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods:

This course is designed to train participants in their responsibilities under the law applicable to the safe handling, storing and transporting of the 9 classes of dangerous goods.This course includes video presentations, group workshops and case studies. This course is intended for all personnel administering, handling, storing and transporting dangerous goods.


Air Brake “Z” Endorsement:


This course has been developed for commercial drivers wishing to attain a “Z” endorsement for operating air brake equipped vehicles.The course involves 12 hours of theory and practical training, followed by theory and hands-on testing as required by the Ministry of Transportation. No additional testing is required at the Ministry.


Air Brake Adjustment:


This course is a requirement for commercial drivers. Individuals meeting the approved training standards and who achieve certification are able to correct S cam air brake adjustments in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act Regulation 587.


Requirements:


Commercial drivers operating air brake equipped vehicles, holding a valid A, B, C, or D license, and a valid Air Brake “Z” Endorsement.
