Welcome to Kemptville Campus, University of Guelph. My name is Trudy Ouimette-Dinnissen and I am a lecturer at the Kemptville Campus.

My story begins in a small northern Ontario community where there were a total of two dairy farms, one of which belonged to my family. We always had a few horses on our farm and I began riding at the age of four. I joined a local riding club at the age of twelve, where I was introduced to western riding competitions. As they say, the rest is history.

After high school I attended Algonquin College and completed the equine care certificate program. While at Algonquin, I was introduced to English riding, since western riding was not an option. When I returned to my home town I began a horse boarding facility on our farm and became the head instructor for a therapeutic riding association.

I also continued to successfully compete in western competitions including Quarterama, C.N.E. and St.-Tites Rodeo.

In 1984 I headed to Oklahoma Horseshoing School in Oklahoma City, where I graduated from the advanced horseshoing and black smithing course. I again returned home, and operated a farrier business in the Cochrane district, along with boarding and teaching.

Three years later I applied for a teaching position in the equine program at New Liskeard College of Agricultural Technology. I was hired in August 1987 and in 1995 moved to Kemptville to continue teaching in the equine program at the Kemptville Campus. During this time period I completed my English Coaching Level 1 and my Western Coaching Level 2 certification, got married, had two children (plus one at the end of 1995), and trained three young horses.

The horse industry offers many challenges and has many opportunities. The education you will acquire at Kemptville Campus will help you meet those challenges and prepare you for the opportunities. Everyone has a story to tell, and Kemptville Campus will now be a part of your story. I am dedicated to assisting each student in preparing for an exciting career in the horse industry.
