Removing the pulp from ripe coffee cherries on a plantation near Mzuzu in northern Malawi.  Once de-pulped, the cherries are soaked in water for three days then air-dried for fourteen days.  They are then bagged and sent to a central facility for dehulling and shipping to markets around the world.

Areas of Expertise in International Business Development / Technology Transfer:

Agriculture, Horticulture, Food, Environment and Land Management

International projects require a different focus and modus-operandi than projects carried out at home. Nature and availability of resources, political environments, economic conditions and environmental circumstances cannot be transplanted from one country to another.. Although many principles can be transferred, most will need to be creatively re-adjusted or re-thought entirely. The Kemptville Campus, University of Guelph with its partners has the capabilities to provide innovative, tailor-made solutions to enhance rural sustainability in a variety of different countries.
