I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Casey Gillis and I am a lecturer and riding instructor at the Kemptville Campus.

I have been involved in the Equestrian field for the past 18 years. I first began riding and showing in the Hunter ring competing Trillium and "A" level shows. Not too many years later a friend introduced me to the discipline of Three Day Eventing and I was hooked.

Casey Gillis

I was fortunate enough to train at a very competitive facility and quickly moved through the levels. I competed in my first Three Day competition the week after my 16th birthday, where I finished in the top half. I have won several Provincial Championships. As well, I have represented Canada twice at The North American Young Rider Championships, first in 1990 and then again in 1992. I also have had the great pleasure of competing at The Radnor Hunt International CCI** in 1998, where I was the fourth top placed Canadian. Though I am now a mother of two young children, I still enjoy showing extensively throughout Ontario, Quebec and the United States. Very rarely will you find me at home on a weekend during the summer!

I have always had excellent coaches, and so I believe it was quite natural for me to begin teaching as a means of giving back to the sport. I taught at my farm in North Gower, Ontario, and did free- lancing while in University. In 1998 I was offered a teaching position at the College. I am currently an English Coach 2 and have completed all of my requirements for my Coach 3 in Three Day Eventing - I'm just waiting for an Exam! I teach many of the English students that bring their own horses to the College, and am involved with the Coaching Program. I am also an English Course Conductor for the Ontario Equestrian Federation. I have a passion for the sport and teaching that I hope I am able to instill in my students.
